About the Designer
Sand emerged from one person's simple desire to discover what made her happy in life.
Therese's first passion as a make-up artist gave her a firm foundation in emphasizing and highlighting a woman's innate beauty; thus, laying the groundwork for the colorful and graceful designs that Sand jewelry is known for. She creates combinations that convey a bold, yet soft aesthetic; jewelry that complements the dressed up or casual chic woman.
Most of us are on a tight schedule, spending our week running from work to the babysitter's to dinners and other formal engagements. Then there are the blessed weekends where we might enjoy a bonfire picnic after surfing all day at the beach or perhaps a warm dinner party with dear friends. Through Sand, Therese strives to create jewelry that truly multi-tasks with the modern woman. Sand jewelry will have you always looking polished and fresh in every outfit for any occasion, from the corporate boardroom to the boardroom of the local surf shop.
An avid surfer and ocean lover, Therese aims to educate and inspire through her jewelry. Sand designs are often born through her fascination with the myriad of unique, colorful forms of life she finds in the ocean. To avoid any contradiction, she does not use coral in any of her seasonal lines: mining these reefs destroys the entire system of her inspiration. Among other resources, responsibly harvested Mother of Pearl shell components are used. These reflect natural beautiful designs which are readily available and renewable.
Therese carefully selects each component of her jewelry, finding a simple yet fascinating beauty in the original and unique objects that are crafted through the natural processes of our Earth. These natural works of art and beauty are then created into accessories which emphasize the unique natural beauty of every woman. Through Sand jewelry, Therese strives to allow women to parallel and become one with the beauty found throughout the natural world: to make one golden like the setting western sun, fascinating as the agate, possessing luminous clarity of quartz, yet as mysterious as the deep iridescence of the pearl, and as colorful as the playful fish of the reef passes.
In Therese's eyes, jewelry should be fun, a compliment of your natural beauty and affordable (so that you can have more fun with it!). She is constantly working with vendors to get the best prices on the best materials from wood to semi-precious gemstones.
Women of all generations are constantly awaiting new designs to add to their collection. Some have even been known to trade out their ubiquitous diamonds for the colorful flair of Sand.
